Features of Urban Landscape in Jerusalem (1267A.H/ 1850A.D-1317A.H./ 1900A.D): Residential Buildings As a Model

This Study aims to shed light on one of the features of urban landscape in Jerusalem during the second half of the 19th century (1267A.H/
Particularly, it deals with the model of residential buildings or (dour) in terms of shape, elements, size, and building materials.
The study uses records of the religious court as an important source of information for various fields, including architecture.
It was found that there is a clear distinction between the rich and the poor of the city in terms of number of floors, attached amenities and facilities, building materials and decorations of floors and courtyards; all reflecting the social and economic status of owners.
