The affect of Meta cognitive teaching strategy on the basic stage students’acquisition ofwholesome conceptsin Islamic Education Subject and their attitudestowards them

Abstract


The present study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of implementing meta cognitive teaching strategy on the basic stage students’ acquisition of wholesome concepts in Islamic education subject and their attitudes towards it.The study sample consisted of 67 students of the seventh religious gradeof both Abu- Bakr religious school in the Directorate of Amman Borough, and Ali bin AbiTalib in the Directorate of SaltBorough, the sample was deliberately selected, being accessible for researcher, the study sample was distributed into an experimental group that included 32 students of the seventh religious grade of Abu- Bakr Religious School in Amman , and a control group included 35 students in the school of Ali bin AbiTalib in the city of Salt. The researcher used two tools in this study namely: Wholesome concepts’ acquisition test, and the measure of students' attitude towards them. The tools’validity and reliability were verified, data were analyzed according to (ANCOVA), and study yielded the following results:• There were statistically significant differences between the mean performance of the two study groups on acquisition posttest, and the difference was in favor of the experimental group that learned by implementing meta cognitive teaching strategy, which means that implementingmeta cognitive teaching strategy was effective in the seventh religious graders’acquisition of wholesome concepts in the education Islamic subject compared to the ordinary way.• There were statistically significant differences between the mean of performance of the two study groups on the post attitude scale, and the difference was in favor of the experimental group that learned using themeta cognitive teachingstrategy,which means that implementing meta cognitive teaching strategy was effective in developing the seventh religious graders’ attitude towards wholesome concepts in the Study of Education Islamic subject compared to the ordinary way.The study came up with a set of recommendations, most notably:• Ministry of Education should work onmeta cognitive teaching strategy to be implemented in teaching-learning process with students.• Caring for building educational programs which are based onmeta cognitive teaching strategy in Islamic education subject and focus on developing acquisition, and different thinking skills among students.
