The Degree of Practicing Critical Thinking Skills by Islamic Education Teachers in Saudi Arabia

Abstract


This study aims to reveal the degree of practicing critical thinking skills by Islamic Education Teachers from their point of view. To achieve this goal, the researcher followed a descriptive survey method where he designed a questionnaire that consisted of (25) paragraphs, the questionnaire was distributed to (617) teachers in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.The results of the study showed that the degree of practicing critical thinking skills by Islamic Education Teachers was moderate. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference for the educational stage variable in favor of the higher stage compared to the lower one. Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference for the qualification variable in favor of the postgraduate qualification compared to the BA degree. Finally, the results of the study also pointed to a statistically significant difference for the teaching experience variable in favor of the higher experience compared to the lower. However, the results did not indicate a statistically significant difference for gender. The study, thus, recommends holding training programs and courses that may help Islamic Education Teachers to employ critical thinking skills in the classroom.
