Teachers' of Science, Mathematics and Computer Attitudes towards the Use of the STEM approach in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Teaching in Riyadh Educational Area

The aim of this study is to identify the attitudes of the teachers of science, mathematics and computer towards the use of STEM approach in science, technology, engineering and mathematics teaching programs in Riyadh educational area. The study society is composed of all teachers of mathematics, science and computer according to STEM - model in Riyadh educational area for the academic year 2018/2019. The sample of the study consisted of (38) male and female teachers in private schools in Riyadh educational area, who were chosen in a Purposive way. The study tool was used, which was a questionnaire and it consisted of (32) items in its final form. The validity of the tool was verified using correlation coefficient and it’s ranged between (0.60-0.85) with total score & the reliability of the tool was (0.85). The results of the study showed that There is a positive attitude in general towards the use of the stem-oriented approach in teaching (STEM) which mean was (3.49). The results showed that there was no statistically significant at the level of α = 0.05 according to gender variable(t=0.82). The results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of α = 0.05 according to the variable of the subjects and it for mathematic & science. (F = 22.02). The study recommended adopting the STEM- oriented approach in teaching , working on the adopting a special curriculum to teach STEM in the near future, implementing it in the coming plan for the three stages of public education, and the provision of material resources and appropriate conditions in the educational environments to implement this type of learning.
