The Effect of Environment on the Decision Making in Ministry of Interior

Abstract


The main purpose of this study is to develop a list of internal and external factors (opportunities and potential threats) that affects the work of the Jordanian Ministry of Interior, and determine the relevance of internal and external environmental factors of decision-making process, and the outcomes are added to the existing knowledge about the internal and external environment which helps to understand the method of decision-making in the Jordanian Ministry of Interior.
Supporting Data was gathered by distributing (245) structured questionnaires designed by the researcher each of composed of 38 questions dealing with all environmental variables. The data used was collected from high ranking officials in the ministry of interior such as Governors, head of divisions and others. At the end of the study the researcher found that the results of this study emphasis the importance of the following:
1- The affect of internal environment factors on the decision making process in the Jordanian interior ministry is ranked as follow in order of importance (laws and regulations, ministry strategy and objectives, organizational structure, technology).
2- The affect of external environment factors on the decision making process in the Jordanian interior ministry is ranked as follow in order of importance ( political, economic, socio-cultural factors)
The main recommendation is that:
The interior ministry should pay more attention to study and analysis the internal and external environment in which the ministry exists. And Provide administrative governors and heads of departments with the necessary skills and more accessibility to the ministry database which eventually will prompts a clear vision that would enable them to make good decisions, especially in emergency situation.
