Effect of Humic Acid and Rates of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Yield and Yield Components of Corn(Zea mays L.)

Abstract


A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of humic acid and nitrogen fertilizer levels on growth and yield Characteristics of Zea mays L. (Bassel- 1) Split-plot design with (3) replications was used. The experiment included four humic acid treatments (control, soaking seeds24 hour before planting, soaking seeds24 hour before planting+ spraying at 21days from planting and spraying at 21days from planting and three levels of nitrogen fertilizers(60-90-120)kgN/ha . Results showed that the use of humic acid caused an increase in: number of leafs on plant،Leaf Area Index LAI, plant and ear height, ear length, number and weight of grains on ear, shelling percentage%,1000-grains weight and grain yield . Soaking seeds 24 hour before planting, +spraying at 21days from planting and Adding 120 kgN/ha gave the best grain yield(6.75)ton/ha and the shelling percentage(82.34)%.
