Study of the Relation between Unemployment and Gender in the Southern Jordanian Badia

Abstract


The study aimed to analyze the relationship between unemployment rate and selected social demographic variables by gender in Southern Jordan Badia community. A personal interview questionnaire was designed to collect the data, using a multistage random sample of 318. Descriptive statistical methods and parametric and nonparometric tests were used to analyze the data.
The study revealed that the labor force economic participation is 45% for population, 70% for males and 17% for females. Labor force economic participation was found to be greater' for males than for females, and in the higher levels of ages among males than females (P
