Economic Justification for the Choice of the Number of Self- load Machines in Thermal Generating Stations

This research aims at introducing an economic approach for choosing the optimal number of working machines which assist the main elements in the generating power plants (such as boilers, condensers of turbines, fans and pumps) to work continuously and safely in order to increase the duration of operation of the generating electrical power and decrease the time of interruption.
This paper introduces an economic method which shows that the optimal number of working machines is (2× 50%) except the cases which may cause dangerous effects to main elements of the generating power plant, where we need to add a reserve machine, whose parameters have the same specifications as the working one.
