ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is twofold: to explore the effect of utilizing the enrichment activities in developing the creative thinking skills (Fluency, Flexibility, and Originality) of the basic cycle 8th grade students, and to explore the effect of gender in developing the creative thinking skills in Geography.
The sample consisted of four classes (59 males and 66 females) in two schools for boys and two for girls located in the suburbs of Amman. The four classes were randomly selected and distributed into experimental and control groups.
For the purpose of this study, a collection of enrichment activities in Geography as well as Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (The verbal edition) were administered.
The results the study showed that utilizing the enrichment activities in teaching Geography leads to the development of creative thinking skills in general and the skills of fluency, flexibility, and originality in particular of the 8th grade basic cycle students in Geography compared to students who were taught using the traditional method. The study also showed that gender has no effect in developing the creative thinking skills.
