The Degree of Fulfilling National Values by Students of Jordanian Private Universities through Their Study of the National Education Course.

Abstract


This study aims at specifying the degree of Fulfilling The national values by Students of Jordanian private universities through their study of “ National education course “ and the influence of some variables or factors on that by using a questionnaire made up of 56 items that cover four domains. The political, social economic and intellectual. Domains. The population of the study is made up of all students have been registered for the national education course at private universities during the secondsemester of the academic year 2008 /2009 with a total of 5800 students . A random sample has been selected and composed of four universities: Al-Isra, Al- Zaytoonah, AmmanNationalUniversity and Jerash University. Three classes have been randomly selected from the four universities. Three classes have randomly been selected from the four universities with total of 715 students forming 19% of the study population.
To answer the questions posed by the study, arithmetic means, standard deviations, fulfillment degrees and T-test have been calculated by where the study has reached to the following results:
1. national values ahave been fulfilled at a medium degree by students of the private universities in the political, social and economic domains , but at a low degree in the intellectual domain ;
2. All national values of the political domain have been fulfilled at a medium degree;
3. All national values of the social domain have been fulfilled at a medium degree except for consultation and dialogue principle, taking pride in the national achievements, bearing responsibility and dialogueprinciple, taking pride in the national achievements, bearingresponsibility and respect of others, privacy have been fulfilled at a high degree;
4. All national values of the economic domain have been fulfilled at a medium degree except for the value of maintaining public properties and the employment of what the student learns in her /his professional life which have been fulfilled at a high degree;
5. All national values of the intellectual domain have been fulfilled at a low degreeExcept for recognizing the stages of modern Jordan development which has beenfulfilled at a medium degree; and.
6. There are differences of statistical /significance of (0.05) in gender, field of sandy, academic year and the university they are enrolled at as for the fulfillment of the national values in the four private universities of concern.
The study has com up with a number of recommendations whish entirely center around giving the subject of national education more attention whether as regards teaching or having a unified textbook for be national education to be designed by those of experience, qualifications and competence.
