Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a training program based on Adey and Shayer model of Cognitive Acceleration, in Developing the Critical Thinking and Successful Intelligence among a Jordanian Sample of fifth Graders in UNRWA schools.
To achieve this aim, the sample of the study was selected from Wadi Al-Seer Preparatory School (males), and Wadi Al-Seer Prepartory School (females) in North Amman Area. The number of the selected sample was 128 female and male students who were divided into experimental and control groups.
The training program was applied to the experimental group, and to measure the impact of the training program Critical Thinking and Successful Intelligence tests were applied to both groups as a pre- and post-test at the beginning and at the end of the implementation of the program.
The results of the study indicated that there were statistically significant differences at (α  0.05) in the performance on Critical Thinking and Successful Intelligence tests attributed to the group variable (experimental and control) in favor of the experimental group. The results of the study revealed also that there were statistically significant differences at (α  0.05) in the performance on Critical Thinking Test attributed to the sex variable (Male & Female) in favor of the males.
However, there were no statistically significant differences at (α  0.05) in the performance on Successful Intelligence Test attributed to sex variable (males & females).
Finally, the results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences at (α  0.05) for to the interaction between the training program proposed for Cognitive Acceleration and sex on Critical Thinking and Successful Intelligence Tests. The study was concluded with some recommendations on applying the Cognitive Acceleration Training Program in educational settings.
